Beloved

(to David)

Sparkling eyes and dirty face -
Chocolate innocence
Delights in today -
Yesterday’s passed
Tomorrow borrowed

Now is the time

For exciting pleasures
Like cyclical bike rides,
Mystery trips
For chips and icecream.
Dreams of treats,
Coke and sweets.
I’m itchy – I’ll scratch
It hurts – I’ll cry
Shout it all out
Cast my clothes by the by
Run round in the nude
It’s not really rude -
Just others are crude.

Our Saviour
Of inappropriate behaviour!

But judgments suspended
Forgiveness extended
Love flowing freely,
Not forced nor coerced,
There on a chair -
A hug or a kiss
That others have missed.
He fills up the void
Where cyncics destroyed
With warmth round my heart -
I stop – I start
To realise with passing time
The special needs are his and mine.

One is fun!

The party begins
And the drink
Makes you think
That the night
Never ends
See your friends
Laugh and shout
Swirling round
Dance about
Plan your moves
Groove your game
Tame your prey
Won’t he stay?
Never mind
Do not cry
Hear a knock
On the door
Plenty more.
What’s the time?
Turn a blind
Eye to that
But don’t blink
For you know
Friend or foe
All will go
And the host
Just a ghost.
Up and went
Got their coats
Never saw
That they moved
Heard no key
Grate the lock
Just a room
Empty now
Music faint
Even quaint
As the fun
That they shun
Becomes party of one.

Indian Summer

Leafy shade
palm and paddy glade

River putters
crisp soft utters

Sky simmers
auburn pink

Cicadas staccato
beats harmonise
echoes on the breeze

Kingfisher blues
yellow-chested hunter
contemplates bait

He waits

Fisherman’s oar
suckles caresses
wet kisses on watery lover

Dark descends

River boats faint lights
cast shadows of day
across Keralian Backwaters.

Men are only mysterious when they have nothing to hide

A knight in shining armour and a damsel in distress,
But with his clichéd one-liner he just cannot impress.
He then moves to embrace her but he spills his pint instead,
Oh love’s young dream is shattered as the drink goes to his head.
Although she is no beauty she still tells him where to go,
Her mind is changed, though, soon as she cops on that he’s got dough!
When she gets keen, then he gets mean, and suddenly goes coy,
And leaves her on her tod while he goes drinking with the boys!

The boy next door is chatty but he doesn’t reveal much,
He makes out he’s real sensitive and needs your loving touch.
He’ll phone you without fail when you tell him not to ring,
But won’t return your phone calls, cause that’s not his kind of thing.
He’ll chase you like a dog on heat as long as you are cold,
But look in his direction and you’ll see it all unfold.
He’ll make out he’s real deep at first to whet your appetite,
It won’t take long, til you cop on, he’s only talking shite!

Some are too devoted, and some just won’t commit,
And others only want to paw and maul your fleshy bits.
He’ll take your cash and stash it in a comfy joint account,
But when it comes to marriage, then he suddenly wants out.
He’ll put on weight and lose his hair, and still think he’s real cool,
But when it comes to your lard ass, there is a different rule.
And after several years go by, the closeness makes him clammy,
But really, he’s pissed off, because you’re nothing like his mammy!
