Harmony but one

Boats at bay -
Water whispers kisses
on the bow.

Tall pine trees -
Balmy breezes blow
clothes from branches.

Pebbles tenderly tickle -
Titter and giggle
lying on sea bed

making love to the ocean floor -
Groaning and moulding
tiny offspring grains.

Rugged rocks stand -
Strong shoulders firm
hugging in the storm

Stars winking wishes-
Lighting milky ways
through darkened skies

I sit alone -
A stone – with empty arms
to hug my heart.

Beyond

Death may stare you in the face
But life will look you in the eye,
Reminding you to be
To bear
To see
To sigh
To laugh
To cry
To love
Forgive
To die to live.

Beloved

(to David)

Sparkling eyes and dirty face -
Chocolate innocence
Delights in today -
Yesterday’s passed
Tomorrow borrowed

Now is the time

For exciting pleasures
Like cyclical bike rides,
Mystery trips
For chips and icecream.
Dreams of treats,
Coke and sweets.
I’m itchy – I’ll scratch
It hurts – I’ll cry
Shout it all out
Cast my clothes by the by
Run round in the nude
It’s not really rude -
Just others are crude.

Our Saviour
Of inappropriate behaviour!

But judgments suspended
Forgiveness extended
Love flowing freely,
Not forced nor coerced,
There on a chair -
A hug or a kiss
That others have missed.
He fills up the void
Where cyncics destroyed
With warmth round my heart -
I stop – I start
To realise with passing time
The special needs are his and mine.

One is fun!

The party begins
And the drink
Makes you think
That the night
Never ends
See your friends
Laugh and shout
Swirling round
Dance about
Plan your moves
Groove your game
Tame your prey
Won’t he stay?
Never mind
Do not cry
Hear a knock
On the door
Plenty more.
What’s the time?
Turn a blind
Eye to that
But don’t blink
For you know
Friend or foe
All will go
And the host
Just a ghost.
Up and went
Got their coats
Never saw
That they moved
Heard no key
Grate the lock
Just a room
Empty now
Music faint
Even quaint
As the fun
That they shun
Becomes party of one.

Indian Summer

Leafy shade
palm and paddy glade

River putters
crisp soft utters

Sky simmers
auburn pink

Cicadas staccato
beats harmonise
echoes on the breeze

Kingfisher blues
yellow-chested hunter
contemplates bait

He waits

Fisherman’s oar
suckles caresses
wet kisses on watery lover

Dark descends

River boats faint lights
cast shadows of day
across Keralian Backwaters.

Sea-song

Winking on waves
sun peeps through decking.
Mischievous playmate of ocean
Lifelong friend of the sea.

Quick darts of daylight
tickle watery funny bones.
Bursts of laughter
between large gulps of sunshine.

Ocean opens strong arms,
Sweeps solar seductress
across sandy dance floors.
Flawless nautical tango

weaves maritime magic.
Sunny spells bathing
in rollers and breakers
reflecting warm forevers.

A stitch in time saves two in the bush

Smile
and the world joins
fools rushing in the rain.

Rolling waves gathering
deep blue seas

Devils you know
Are better than two in the bush
Where angels fear to tread

There’s no place like an old fool
Cats and dogs smell
Coffee in the kitchen

Every silver lining has a cloud.

Jeepers creepers!

Prune and snip
For juicy fruit,
Until the slip
Has taken root.

Watch it flower,
Spread with manure.
Sweet smells sour
As it matures.

Swap a snippet,
Send and receive.
‘Twas her that did it’ -
Bend and deceive.

Chins will wobble,
Tongues will wag,
Cheeks will gobble
On gobs not gagged.

‘Oh did you see?’
‘Or have you heard?’
They hang with glee
On every word.

‘How did it start?’
‘Who where and why?’
‘Oh cross my heart
And hope to die

I saw it all
With others’ eyes.’
The rise and fall
Of myths and lies.

That’s what grows,
In places small,
Where noses know
And rumours crawl.

A seed is sown
Until with time,
The bud is blown
To the sublime.

So plant them deep
And then ignore,
If they should creep
Behind your door.

Tomorrow is my birthday

years creep
wait in prey
pounce on youth
claws dig deep
sink deeper
into young flesh
poison left
venom of age

Symbiosis

Secrets cling to nature’s bark,
Twilight whispers ebb and flow,
Brightness bursting through the dark
All the things we’ll never know,
All the selves we’ll never show,
Epiphanies that come and go.
